Comparison of I-gel and laryngeal mask airway classic in terms of ease of insertion and hemodynamic response: a randomised observational study

Background: The gold standard technique for preserving a patent airway throughout anaesthesia is tracheal intubation. I-gel relatively new addition to the SADs. has combined concept of non-cuffed SADs like SLIPA and gastric tube proseal LMA yet retaining shape laryngeal mask. Hence, we have compared ease insertion, number duration insertion attempts among two devices. Methods: This study was conducted on patients undergoing elective surgery under GA in Pacific Medical College Hospital, Udaipur. Patients were divided into groups: group A= classic, variant supraglottic device B= I-gel, device. devices than with respect success rate time taken placement (number attempts) post-operative morbidity. Results: Mean 8.66±3.21 seconds C-LMA 6.49±1.92 (p<0.001). 97.14% single attempt as 88.57% C-LMA. There failure 11.43% CLMA 2.86% (p>0.05). Conclusions: We hereby concluded our that successful shorter less hemodynamic response, makes I-gel™ suitable alternative classic™ during general anesthesia.
